Understanding and Empathy

As a horse owner myself it’s important to me that your horse has a positive travel experience. They are not cargo and neither should we ignore their natural instinct to fear the unknown. We shouldn’t expect that any horse will automatically be happy to get in a confined space with a moving floor and with no means of escape from those fears – why most horses actually do it willingly never ceases to fill me with a deep respect for them! What I don’t do is turn up with limited time to get the job done before I move on to the next one – my time is yours and the loading and journey will take as long as it needs to take.

My Horsebox

My horse box is designed to limit the stresses of travelling for your horse. Rear facing is by far the safest option - if I have to stop quickly it’s the horse’s well padded bottom that takes the impact, not its chest and front legs. Nervous passengers like to wedge themselves in the corner if they’re feeling unsteady and use the natural suspension in their back legs.

CCTV allows me to see what your precious one is up to when it thinks no one is watching!

The groom’s door gives quick access to (and from!) the travel compartment if there’s a problem and means you can tack up etc. in the box if necessary.

The high rear partition ensures that your horse is safely enclosed and I never travel horses loose in this type of box – it’s dangerous! When the horse is secured properly they are perfectly safe.

About your horse’s chauffeur

This is me with my own pampered equine (and website model), Bug. We are happy hackers these days with the occasional outing to local shows where we always do well in the coloured classes. We like to help out with the local RDA group and I give my transport services free to a number of horse charities.

I think of my job as my paying hobby – it’s much too enjoyable to be called work and I don’t mind bragging that most of my clients come through referrals from happy customers who like my calm and patient approach.

Horses have been my life - from riding schools to racing yards, Thoroughbreds to Shetlands and every day they amaze me with their courage and a dignity we have no right to abuse.
